WAKE ISLAND 1998

The Dateline DX Association follows it's September 1997 North Cook operation by announcing a return to Wake Island (KH9) with dates on the island of February 26th through March 11th. This operation follows a successful 1996 Wake operation and its emphasis will again be on EU and the low bands. With upbeat conditions, other areas should enjoy good availability almost round the clock. they intend to complete the needs for those who may have missed it earlier.

Operators will be Tom K8XP (ZK1XXP, AL7EL/KH9, V7/AL7EL); Bob N2OO (9M6OO, V85OO, V85OM, XX9OO); N6MZ (VK0IR, ZK1XXP, SV5/N6MZ); and Bill N2WB (KG4WB). 4 stations are planned with directional antennas for 10 through 20 and verticals for 40, 80 and 160. Special efforts on RTTY will be handled by N2WB. N1DG will again do the website.

This operation comes very soon after the North Cook operation and the opportunity to return to Wake was unexpected. Because they did not want to pass up the ability to again activate Wake they are going under less then satisfactory financial circumstances. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and can be forwarded to:
